Helping 3rd Hampton Hill Scouts raise funds

Waitrose at Hampton have decided to make 3rd Hampton Hill Scout Group one of the three “good causes” which will receive funding from Waitrose.

So when you go shopping at Waitrose in Hampton don’t forget to pick up a green plastic token at the till and put it into the slot marked 3rd Hampton Hill Scout Group, in the container on your left as you walk towards the exit.

The more green tokens in 3HH’s container, the more money 3HH will receive from Waitrose.

The scheme runs from this Sunday, 1st December to 31st December. Please tell all your family and friends about this fundraising opportunity and encourage them to pick up a green plastic token at the till when they’ve paid for their shopping, and put it in 3HH’s slot.

Anyone fancy flying or paragliding in 2014??

The county has organised some dates for Flying and paragliding sessions in 2014!!  If you are interested can you email me – the cost is likely to be about £50 for the flying  (excluding transport there/back) and for the paragliding about £40 (excluding transport).plane Flying takes place from a Piper Seneca aircraft that has 5 passenger seats and the flight lasts 20 minutes

The paragliding is a one day course that starts with being taught a parachute roll and then if the weather conditions are acceptable three launches. The flights are towed flights and are carried out using the clubs BHPA qualified instructors

Remembrance Parade – Thank You!!

Thanks to those of you that were able to make it last Sunday – we had 36 explorers parading – which is an excellent result – lets see if we can get even more for next year!! (We might even be able to get the organisers to recognise that we exist next year!!)

For everyone – but especially those of you that weren’t there – don’t forget that to remain part of the unit you must take part in at least one parade each year – I suggest that you fix St. George’s Day firmly in your diary for 2014 – as I expect you to be there!! It would also be great to have ALL explorers at St. George’s Day (including those of you that came to Remembrance Day) to show the Richmond public how strong explorer scouting is in Hampton and to renew your promise!!

Just for the avoidance of doubt St. George’s Day parade will be on Sunday 27th April 2014 – get it in the diary!!

Sedan Chair – we won something…!!!!!

Amazingly with one day’s worth of preparation the team constructed a fantastic chair ( it was made to look like a black horse) and they all wore black cloaks and hoods (material + gaffer tape!!) – and managed to some away with the prize for the “Best Dressed Team” – well done!!

Would be good to have 2 or 3 teams in next year’s competition – and imagine what you might win if we put some work in before the competition!!
